Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol

Why is the GHG Protocol important?

The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol is a widely recognized international standard for measuring and managing greenhouse gas emissions to help organizations reduce their carbon footprint. The GHG Protocol provides clear guidelines for quantifying emissions from operations, supply chains, and products, enabling DGE clients to track, report, and reduce their climate impact effectively. The Protocol supports transparency, consistency, and comparability in emissions accounting, fostering credibility and regulatory compliance.

DGE specialists perform carbon footprint calculations in line with the GHG Protocol and other international standards, helping organizations in the Nordics and Baltics assess, manage, and report their greenhouse gas emissions.

Key features of the GHG Protocol

  • Defines scopes of emissions: Scope 1 (direct emissions), Scope 2 (indirect emissions from purchased energy), and Scope 3 (other indirect emissions).
  • Provides methodologies for setting emission reduction targets and creating inventories.
  • Supports reporting frameworks aligned with global climate initiatives and regulatory requirements.

The customer journey: From emissions measurement to climate action

Our clients begin by establishing a baseline emissions inventory following GHG Protocol principles. This forms the basis for identifying reduction opportunities, implementing efficiency measures, and offsetting unavoidable emissions. Accurate, verified reporting enhances stakeholder trust and informs sustainability strategies.

Adopting the GHG Protocol enables DGE clients to contribute to global climate goals, meet investor and regulatory expectations, and demonstrate leadership in environmental responsibility.
