At DGE, we value long-term collaborations that allow us to truly understand our clients, both their people and their operations. By growing together, we foster trust, engagement, and the right conditions to create lasting value.
One example of this is our collaboration with Lyckeby Group, a Swedish cooperative with roots in potato farming in southern Sweden dating back to 1927. The group consists of two main business areas: starch and flavor. The starch business area is operated by the company Lyckeby, which refines starch potatoes into high-quality products for the food, paper, and chemical industries. The business area flavor is managed by the company Culinar, which develops unique flavoring and ingredient solutions for the food industry, retail, and food service.
Today, Lyckeby Group has around 600 members of whom about 360 are active growers and has a strong international presence through subsidiaries and distributors operating across global markets.
Together, we have worked on several key aspects of their sustainability efforts, from materiality analysis and sustainability reporting to climate calculations and strategic advisory.
The materiality analysis helped the group identify which sustainability topics are most significant, based on both the company’s impact and stakeholder expectations. We also supported the development of their sustainability reporting to align with evolving reporting standards.
To strengthen their climate strategy, we conducted greenhouse gas emission calculations in line with established international standards. Based on these results, we support the company in setting science-based climate targets aligned with the Paris Agreement, providing a solid foundation for continued emission reductions and improvement across the production and the supply chain. In addition to this, product carbon footprints for a handful of Lyckeby Group’s products have been developed and are currently being updated, enabling customers to use specific data for their carbon accounting of supplier chain upstream activities.
